How I’ve grown over the past year! With every newborn, child, family, senior, wedding & event I’ve photographed I feel like I’m becoming a better photographer technically & artistically…so there came this point recently…where I took a look around me & realized that I might need a little help. Yes. I said it. I might be realizing that I can’t necessarily do everything on my own…and I’m ok with that…in fact, I’m rather excited about it!

I would like to take this opportunity to officially introduce you to & welcome Wendy to the natalie finazzo photography team! We’ve only been working together since the beginning of October but I swear this girl can read my mind! Can’t get much better than that! I’ve asked her to answer some questions about herself below so you can get to know her better!

I’m absolutely thrilled to be working with Wendy & I know you’re going to love her too!

Q. What’s your favorite color?

Green!

Q. What is your role at natalie finazzo photography?

My role at NFP is to be extra eyes, ears & hands. It’s amazing to me how much work goes into setup for a newborn, or running in & out of the studio for equipment, or when we forget to pay the parking meter!

Q. What does it mean to be an assistant?

To me, an assistant is someone who should be two steps ahead of the photographer. I’m hoping to eventually know Natalie’s thoughts better than she knows her own!

Q. What else do you love in life, besides photography?

I love being on the water. If I could, I would be a professional fisherwoman! The way water plays with light, or changes with a cloud above, I could watch it all day while trying to catch a trophy fish. Rocking a nice tan in the process doesn’t hurt either! Other things I love: music, books (I could read two in one week) silly &/or scary movies, traveling & food!

Q. What are you most looking forward to as the end of the 2011 draws near?

The rest of 2011 is going to fly right by & I’m looking forward to working more with Natalie, who is not only my “boss” but also a good friend. She inspires me to work hard & never complain. She loves what she does & that is something I plan to work on myself. I’m also looking forward to seeing my family over the holidays & singing Christmas songs with my brother while driving around looking at Christmas lights!

Q. Photography related or not, what’s one goal you have for yourself in 2012?

One of my goals for next year is to step out of my comfort zone. Some amazing opportunities are presenting themselves right now & I don’t want to look at them & say, “Oh, I don’t know if I can do that…” I am going to run with them & see where they lead me. Oh, and buy a new car!

I have women in my life who are superwomen & Gina is one of them. I was thrilled when she approached me about taking her headshot! What a perfect excuse to get together, take a walk around a beautiful park in the setting sun & catch up.

Where oh were to begin!? Shana & I were roommates our Sophomore year of college…I don’t think we had any classes together…we might have met through mutual friends?!? Or maybe in the gym?? Regardless, Sophomore year was a FUN year! We didn’t really keep in contact until Facebook became a bigger part of our lives; I moved back to MN after college & she went back home to WI. Then, one afternoon she contacted me, somewhat out of the blue, to discuss a little project she was working on…next think I knew she was up here! We had so MUCH to catch up on! I don’t think either one of us took a breath for 24 hours!

What’s Shana been up to!? A whole lot! She’s married to the love of her life (her words, not mine!) & they have two beautiful little boys! She is the author of a fabulous book called Getting Fit With Food which debunks the notion that healthy eating has to be bland & uncreative. It’s a MUST PURCHASE for people like me who are busy & on the go but don’t want to sacrifice our health…or our taste buds! From being a founding partner of Ellipse Fitness/Ellipse Management Company; co-founder Livewell Yoga; prenatal coach/yoga instructor; bodybuilding competitor; & most recently, personal trainer for Kristin Steede, a contestant on season 7 of NBC’s The Biggest Loser this girl is all go-go-go! No WONDER we get along so well!

Justine’s eyes are captivating & her smile is infectious! Justine is a friend of a friend but had you been a fly on the wall in the studio when we were taking these photos you would have never known that we had just met! Normally from Talent Sessions I have a handful of images that I really love, that I really think capture the personality of my clients…this session seriously stumped me! I think I like every single photo as much as I like the next! From her green shirt to her ruby colored lips to her sparkling eyes…this girl is seriously gorgeous! Oh! And I suppose I should mention that Justine is beyond talented…check her out in The Marvelous Wonderettes now showing at The Plymouth Playhouse through July 24th!

I took Talent photos of Suzanne’s husband Paul…about two studios’s ago…ha! I was thrilled when he contacted me at the end of last year to purchase a Gift Certificate as a surprise for Suzanne! Suzanne has been working as a music educator, actress, music director & accompanist since receiving her degree in vocal music & theater from Gustavus Adlophus College. Among her many titles are and have been music director, accompanist, classroom teacher, choir director & voice instructor. Additionally, she has performed in and music directed several professional productions in Minnesota, primarily working with The Minneapolis Musical Theatre. How lucky am I to have her in the studio!?!

Besides my newborns, 6 month & 1 year olds, besides my little kids & their families, I absolutely love working with Talent! What I like to call “Talent” is a person in need of either a great headshot for their business, web site, business card or brochure, “Talent” might be an actor/actress freshening up their portfolio, “Talent” might even just need a new Facebook photo. In this case Elisha was in need of a great headshot for her business & I was soooo excited to work with her! I mean let’s face it, this girl is simply stunning & she has such great taste!

Julie is another new client who “won” a session I donated to a local organization! She & her business partner braved the bad weather last weekend to come to the studio for photos & I’m so glad they did. The light in the studio was beautiful because of all the snow we got!

My cousin Rachael is a photographer in the Waterloo, IA area. She came into town a couple of weekends ago and we shot a wedding together! Oh it was SO MUCH FUN! Between running around town scoping out fun places to shoot and all the late night camera-futzing-creative-processing-web-surfing-blog-snooping we were doing we were really REALLY ready to BRING IT to Megan & Ben’s wedding!
