Gina & Brett were married on a VERY HOT and VERY HUMID weekend in July but that did not stop this wedding party from having FUN! It’s been so fun to photograph weddings this summer knowing that mine will be here soon! I just love seeing what other couples do & capturing what makes their wedding day special to them. For Gina & Brett their wedding day was about celebrating family, about remembering their loved ones who were there with them in spirit & about welcoming each others families into their lives. From the gathering of their closest friends and family (who happened to travel from many, MANY miles away to be there to celebrate with them) to the quiet moment shared between a couple about to walk down the aisle together, to the ruby red shoes the bride wore, this day was a complete reflection of who Lisa & Alberto are as a couple and the love they share. I couldn’t be more happy for them!

This entire wedding was simply a dream to photograph. It seemed like after each & every event there was another event I couldn’t wait to capture. I got to work with a wonderful assistant, Rachael, whose photographs from Megan & Ben’s day can be seen here, and I got to work with this beautiful bride & handsome groom! Personally, my absolute, most favorite time of the day was after the ceremony when Rachael & I swept the bride & groom away to photograph them without the interruptions of their guests. This is the time of the day that I find most special for me & most special (in my mind) for the bride & groom. Maybe it’s because there’s a lot of pressure around walking down the aisle & when it is said & done you just kinda want to kick up your heels? Maybe it’s because it’s nice to take a break from all the questions, the organizing & the planning, escape everyone & just be told what to do for a little while? (Believe me, I am GOOD at telling people what to do!) Maybe it’s because you just want to take some time to hold each other?…

Ok. I admit it. I am a crier. I have no shame. Sometimes, if someone looks at me funny I think I must have done something wrong & the tears just start automatically welling up. So as you can imagine, I’m usually standing in the back of a ceremony doing my best to distract myself from the “emotion” of what is being said by focusing on the “art” of what I am doing in order to prevent myself from getting my camera all wet. Try as I might, there was no holding the tears back at this wedding. Megan & Ben share a common bond, they have both lost a parent. However, Megan & Ben made every effort, which came off effortlessly, to make sure that their loved ones, who weren’t there physically, were there in spirit & as much a part of the ceremony & their wedding day as saying the “Do you’s” & “I Do’s”.

Megan & Ben were married on June 12th & I have so many pictures that I am absolutely in love with that I am going to have to stretch this wedding out over a couple of days of posts! Megan is a girl after my own heart…the gray tuxes, complimentary black bridesmaids dresses, the clean lines of Megan’s wedding dress and the simple beauty of the flowers…I’m literally getting the goosebumps as I edit! Up first, the Groomsmen, the Bridesmaids & the Flower Girls…

I get the biggest kick out of the picture below!

Where oh where to begin!? Michelle & I met in a class on pretty much our first day of college (NOT going to tell you how long ago THAT was…)…we instantly hit it off and the rest is…well the rest has been pretty eventful for the both of us! College, jobs, marriage & babies (THREE beautiful girls!) for her, Boston bound & back for me…but through it all, we have always been there for one another, that voice on the other end of the telephone, that quick email or reply to a Facebook post…so when Michelle called and excitedly started gushing over her next “project” I couldn’t WAIT to get on the road! This past June Michelle & Ryan were married 10 years and Michelle had planned a vow renewal ceremony inviting back family & friends to participate in it with them. The morning of the ceremony was touch & go, and by touch & go I mean I’m fairly certain there were some touch & go tornados in the immediate vicinity. We waited through torrential downpours & high speed wind gusts but it was all worth it! Congratulations Michelle & Ryan! I’ll be expecting my 20 year invite in the mail!

I don’t normally put up pictures of myself on my blog, but I figure WHY NOT? We look GOOD! Plus, I actually look TALL in this picture! Must be my heels…

I’ll give you two guesses as to where we were for the after party…

Michelle’s Aunt (I think?) took a swatch of fabric from Michelle’s original wedding dress & modified this one to include it! LOVE little touches like that!
