Colorful & quiet moments, emotion, how the light softens a smile, the anticipation of new parents with a little one on the way, relationships, the tiny features of a newborn, the curiosity of a 6 month old, the exuberance of a 4 year old, the love that a family shares, the independence of a graduating senior, the diversity of actors, & the glamour, simplicity & romance of a wedding...I simply can't get enough of it all!

Last weekend Ben, Lily & Jack came to visit me at the studio. I’m posting a few more pictures than I normally do…there were three of them and way too many pictures that I liked! Ben was cool…every time my camera was pointed in his general direction he was trying out new poses…like teetering on the edge of my couch! And Lilly is a sweet little jokester…she had some funny little faces for me! Jack, well…Jack is 20 months old and right now and the kid is on the go…fearless and full of energy!

We did it! With your help we raised a total of (drum roll please…) $1,369 for Camp Get-A-Well-A! I can’t say THANK YOU enough to all of the people who came out to the benefit! From my family members (and a certain someone who flew all of the way in from Cincinnati to surprise me!), to my friends & to their friends, to my wonderful clients & all the amazing people who came down to the studio last Tuesday whom I met for the first time, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!

I’ve know Ruth for many years. Her daughter Anna is a very good friend of mine from high school and so throughout the years we have bumped into each other here and there. Besides her daughter, Ruth and I have other things in common as well, like our love for all things Italian (she is an avid traveler which we spent most of our time talking about during her Talent Session, LOVE ITALY) and we are both cancer survivors. Within the past several years (I’m not exactly sure how many?) Ruth lost her left hand and a portion of her arm to an aggressive form of cancer. You know that saying, “When life hands you lemons make lemonade?” Well let me tell you, Ruth makes an awesome lemonade and she’s sharing it! Ruth’s message “Cancer & Change: Moving through the narrow spot” details her impressive story and faith journey through the years of her initial diagnosis, recovery and enthusiastic embrace of life today. I simply can’t wait to hear her speak, you go girl!
She’s back! I have photographed little Miss Jordan since she was in her mommy’s belly! Technically Jordan is a little under 14 months old but the holidays were busy so we pushed her 1 year session out to January…and I am so glad we did! I was excited to show her my new studio! Typically, during a session, I love to go back and forth between natural light shots and shots with actual studio lights. Lately I have been LOVING the natural light in the studio…the way the sushine plays off of baby fine hair…can’t get enough!
I’m in love with Joe’s sparkling eyes & Adele’s joyous smile…ok I’m even in love with Adele’s serious look too! Joe & Adele were so fun to have down at the studio. Between Adele following her big brother all around & me army crawling on the floor to get my shot I completely lost track of the time during our session! I could have taken pictures of these two all day long!
Talent. Many of the people that come to me for “Talent” photographs are aspiring actors and actresses or working actors and actresses and I have even had the pleasure of photographing a fellow photographer or two. This is the first post of two “new” types of “Talent” that recently came to see me and I couldn’t be more thrilled with all of the results I am seeing! First up, meet Ralph. Ralph is a music composer and it just so happens that the St. Olaf Choir is featuring him as one of the composers whose music they are performing on their East Coast Tour in February! Congrats!
Meet Katy & Maxwell. If ever there was a huge dog that was convinced he was a lap dog, Maxwell is him! Katy just graduated from the U and thought it would be fun to get some pictures of her & Maxwell to send along with her graduation announcements. I simply can’t get over Katy’s smile…& that long brown hair! Inspires me to keep growing mine! & Maxwell was pretty exhausted by the end of our session together…made for the perfect picture!
